We’re back! Meet the Larder!

Hello to all you amazing Alloa First readers and welcome to our new era of our blog! We’ll be looking at some of our vendors and finding out a little more about them! For example, did you know that the famous Alloa traders, Anna’s Larder has been trading on our high streets for the last 60 years?

If you don’t know Anna’s Larder, and let’s face it you probably do, they sell a wide selection of fresh fruit and vegetables, good food, fun toys, around the house items and the very best selection of sweets! As Vilma herself says; “If we havnae got it, we’ll get it in!”

Today I got to have the opportunity to meet Vilma Toma, of The Toma Family, which has been trading in Alloa for over a hundred years! Anna’s Larder is a shop we all know and love, and everyone I speak to has very lovely things to say about the quality of both service and goods!

Anyone you ask around Alloa will tell you the same thing, Vilma is one of the nicest and loveliest people I’ve met, which certainly explains why Anna’s Larder has so many loyal customers. She was not only happy to give me some time to answer questions but she was so happy to be able to talk about her family and what an impact they have had on the Alloa high streets. The Toma Family has been taking part in the community for longer than we have been alive!

Over the past year with covid, every single shop and business in the world has taken a small hit in sales, but you cannot kill the Toma spirit! Even with the Covid affecting general businesses in the area, they are going strong and triumphing over adversities.

They are seeing a lot more growth in sales now the rules are more lax, and remain hopeful that they will be here for a long time to come!

“Businesses will come and go, but we are here to stay.”

Vilma Toma been using Alloa First since January 21st of this year, and seeing a lot of sales from it, which is exactly what we want to hear!

The benefits from Alloa First have helped so many places in our fair town with the downfalls of lockdown. Even though people cannot come out to shop, having the online shop available to people during the pandemic means you can continue to trade when your store is shut.

But now, as the pandemic lessens, that doesn’t mean that having your business online isn’t worth it! Having all your products online means that your customers can buy from you 24/7, even when you’re shut or at home asleep! All they need to do is select what they want and you get the orders! This is also really helpful for people who can’t make it to your store, because of disabilities or inability to get out of the house.

If you’re in the area come and see Vilma at Anna’s Larder and find out how amazing it is for yourself! You can find her on the Alloa First website and browse their wonderful products now!
